Wednesday’s Workout comes from our friends at CrossFit Verve and is called “Hamburguesa.” I’m not sure what it means, but it goes like this: 5 Pull-ups, 10 Push-ups, 15 Squats, 200 m Run, 21 KB Swings (53#/35#), 12 Pull-ups, 400 m Run, 75 Wall-ball shots (20#/14#), 400 m Run, 12 Pull-ups, 21 KB Swings, 200 m Run, 15 Squats, 10 Push-ups, 5 Pull-ups. See how it looks like a hamburger? Speaking of which, after Sunday’s beach workout at Bradford Beach, we all got burgers at the Northpoint Hamburger and Custard Stand, and they were awesome (albeit not paleo). Just another incentive to join us for Sunday workout!
Article: Leroy Petry Receives Medal of Honor
President Obama awarded the Medal of Honor to Sgt. 1st Class Leroy Petry, lauding his “extraordinary heroism” during a solemn White House ceremony Tuesday that marked just the second time since Vietnam that the honor was bestowed to a living recipient.
Petry, an Army Ranger from New Mexico, lost his hand throwing a grenade away from two fellow soldiers during a fight with insurgents in Afghanistan’s Paktia province in May 2008. Petry had already been shot in both legs but could have dragged himself around a wall to save himself. Instead, he reached over and grabbed the grenade to eliminate the threat to two other soldiers close by, members of his unit told reporters last month.
